Brake Booster Symptom Chart

CUSTOMER SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION
  • DTC  set: C113A-14
  • Brake pedal travel is longer than normal
  • Brake pedal feel against deceleration is heavier than normal
  • 'Brake Pedal Feel Reduced' message is displayed. Yellow (!) warning displayed on the instrument cluster
  • Anti-lock brake system ignition feed supply voltage implausible when compared with the Body Control Module (BCM) ignition supply voltage
  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, check the Body Control Module (BCM) for related DTC  s and refer to the relevant DTC  index
  • Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagrams and check the anti-lock brake system control module ignition feed for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance. Repair circuit as required
  • DTC  set: U201A-55
  • Brake pedal travel is longer than normal
  • Brake pedal feel against deceleration is heavier than normal
  • 'Brake Pedal Feel Reduced' message is displayed. Yellow (!) warning displayed on the instrument cluster
  • Brake booster calibration data not configured correctly
NOTE: To clear the fault a full vehicle sleep cycle must be performed. Make sure the ignition is off. Lock the vehicle, wait for the hazard warning lamp switch back lighting to extinguish, then wait a further 20 seconds.
  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, reconfigure the brake booster module with the latest level software
  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, check and update the car configuration file as required
  • DTC  set: U0100-87
  • Brake pedal travel is longer than normal
  • Brake pedal feel against deceleration is initially heavier than normal, but as the vehicle decelerates it may become over assisted with pedal travel
  • 'Brake Pedal Feel Reduced' message is displayed. Yellow warning displayed on the instrument cluster
  • Vibration through the brake pedal may be felt
  • Anti-lock brake system yellow warning displayed on the instrument cluster
  • Missing/invalid data from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
  • Vehicle communication bus F - Bus off. FlexRay bus circuit short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, check the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) for related DTC  s and refer to the relevant DTC  index
  • Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagrams and check the FlexRay bus circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance. Replace the wiring harness as required
  • DTC  set: U0080-88
  • Brake pedal travel is longer than normal
  • Brake pedal feel against deceleration is initially heavier than normal, but as the vehicle decelerates it may become over assisted with pedal travel
  • 'Brake Pedal Feel Reduced' message is displayed. Yellow (!) warning displayed on the instrument cluster
  • Vibration through the brake pedal may be felt
  • Anti-lock brake system yellow warning displayed on the instrument cluster

  • Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagrams and check the FlexRay bus circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance. Replace the wiring harness as required
  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, perform a CAN  network integrity test. Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagrams and check the high speed CAN  bus (chassis) circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
  • DTC  set: U0080-87, U0121-87, U0415-81
  • Brake pedal travel is longer than normal
  • Brake pedal feel against deceleration is initially heavier than normal, but as the vehicle decelerates it may become over assisted with pedal travel
  • 'Brake Pedal Feel Reduced' message is displayed. Yellow (!) warning displayed on the instrument cluster
  • Vibration through the brake pedal may be felt
  • Anti-lock brake system yellow warning displayed on the instrument cluster
  • Anti-lock brake system control module is not correctly configured
  • Brake booster module is not correctly configured
  • Missing/invalid data from the Gateway Module (GWM)

  • Brake booster pedal travel sensor internal failure

  • Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagrams and check the brake booster module pedal travel sensor circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
  • If the fault persists, install a new brake booster module, then run the diagnostic routine - Test Brake Booster Actuator (0x3063) - to confirm operation and check PTS_OFFSET is within new install limits
  • DTC  set: P05E0-64
  • Brake pedal travel is longer than normal
  • Brake pedal feel against deceleration is initially heavier than normal, but as the vehicle decelerates it may become over assisted with pedal travel
  • 'Brake Pedal Feel Reduced' message is displayed. Yellow (!) warning displayed on the instrument cluster
  • Vibration through the brake pedal may be felt
  • Anti-lock brake system yellow warning displayed on the instrument cluster
  • Brake light switch incorrect position
  • Brake pedal position sensor signal circuit 1 short circuit to power, short circuit to ground, open circuit, high resistance
  • Brake pedal position sensor signal circuit 2 short circuit to power, short circuit to ground, open circuit, high resistance
  • Brake pedal travel sensor internal failure
NOTE: To clear the fault a full vehicle sleep cycle must be performed. Make sure the ignition is off. Lock the vehicle, wait for the hazard warning lamp switch back lighting to extinguish, then wait a further 20 seconds.
  • Check the brake light switch for correct position and operation. Adjust the switch position as necessary
  • Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagrams and check the brake pedal position sensor signal circuit 1 for short circuit to power, short circuit to ground, open circuit, high resistance. Repair circuit as required
  • Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagrams and check the brake pedal position sensor signal circuit 2 for short circuit to power, short circuit to ground, open circuit, high resistance. Repair circuit as required
  • If the fault persists, install a new brake booster module, then run the diagnostic routine - Test Brake Booster Actuator (0x3063) - to confirm operation and check PTS_OFFSET is within new install limits
  • DTC  set: P0560-1F, U3000-46, C0533-16, P0561-16, P0562-16, C05C3-1C
  • Brake pedal travel is longer than normal
  • Brake pedal feel against deceleration is initially heavier than normal, but as the vehicle decelerates it may become over assisted with pedal travel
  • 'Brake Pedal Feel Reduced' message is displayed. Yellow (!) warning displayed on the instrument cluster
  • Vibration through the brake pedal may be felt
  • Anti-lock brake system yellow warning displayed on the instrument cluster
  • Brake booster module auxiliary battery (B19) connections and or fuses
  • Brake booster module auxiliary battery (B19) voltage has fallen below its operating voltage of 12.0 volts
  • Gateway Module (GWM) Power Supply Distribution Box (PSDB) switch #2 open
NOTE: To clear the fault a full vehicle sleep cycle must be performed. Make sure the ignition is off. Lock the vehicle, wait for the hazard warning lamp switch back lighting to extinguish, then wait a further 20 seconds.
  • Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagrams and check the condition of the brake booster module auxiliary battery (B19) connections and fuses. Repair or replace as required
  • Check the voltage of the brake booster module auxiliary battery (B19). If the voltage is below 12.0 volts, recharge the auxiliary battery
  • Check the Gateway Module (GWM) PSDB  switch #2 is closed. Recharging the brake booster auxiliary battery (B19) should close the switch. If the switch remains open circuit, using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, close the switch as required
  • DTC  set: U2011-17
  • Brake pedal travel is longer than normal
  • Brake pedal feel against deceleration is initially heavier than normal, but as the vehicle decelerates it may become over assisted with pedal travel
  • 'Brake Pedal Feel Reduced' message is displayed. Yellow warning displayed on the instrument cluster
  • Vibration through the brake pedal may be felt
  • Anti-lock brake system yellow warning displayed on the instrument cluster
  • Brake booster module auxiliary battery (B19) over voltage
NOTE: To clear the fault a full vehicle sleep cycle must be performed. Make sure the ignition is off. Lock the vehicle, wait for the hazard warning lamp switch back lighting to extinguish, then wait a further 20 seconds.
  • Clear the DTC  s and allow the vehicle to go through a full sleep cycle
  • DTC  set: U1A4C-68
  • Brake pedal travel is short/firm
  • 'Brake Pedal Feel Reduced' message is displayed. Yellow (!) warning displayed
  • Brake pedal vibrates when pressed
  • Vehicle is in service mode
NOTE: To clear the fault a full vehicle sleep cycle must be performed. Make sure the ignition is off. Lock the vehicle, wait for the hazard warning lamp switch back lighting to extinguish, then wait a further 20 seconds.
  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment take the vehicle out of service mode. Perform routine - Exit Control Module Manufacturing/Service Mode - (0x0E0F). Set the ignition to power mode 7, engine running
  • Clear the DTC  s and allow the vehicle to go through a full sleep cycle
  • DTC  set: U2012-87, U2012-56, U3000-49, C0594-07, C058A-07, C0595-49
  • Brake pedal travel is short/firm
  • 'Brake Pedal Feel Reduced' message is displayed. Yellow (!) warning displayed
  • Brake pedal vibrates when pressed
  • Brake booster module is not configured correctly
  • Car configuration file mismatch with vehicle specification
  • Brake booster module internal failure
NOTE: To clear the fault a full vehicle sleep cycle must be performed. Make sure the ignition is off. Lock the vehicle, wait for the hazard warning lamp switch back lighting to extinguish, then wait a further 20 seconds.
  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, reconfigure the brake booster module with the latest level software
  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, check and update the car configuration file as required
  • If the fault persists, install a new brake booster module, then run the diagnostic routine - Test Brake Booster Actuator (0x3063) - to confirm operation and check PTS_OFFSET is within new install limits
  • DTC  set: P05FF-7A
  • Brake pedal travel is longer than normal
  • Brake pedal feel against deceleration is heavier than normal
  • 'Brake Pedal Feel Reduced' message is displayed. Yellow (!) warning displayed
  • Brake pedal may be felt to vibrate
  • ABS yellow warning light may be displayed
  • Air trapped within the hydraulic brake system, or hydraulic brake system fluid leak
  • Brake Pads not sliding freely in calipers (Pads/caliper corroded/seized)
  • Can also be caused by overheated/thermally degraded brake pads
NOTE: To clear the fault a full vehicle sleep cycle must be performed. Make sure the ignition is off. Lock the vehicle, wait for the hazard warning lamp switch back lighting to extinguish, then wait a further 20 seconds.
  • Check the brake hydraulic system for leaks and/or air in the circuit and repair as required. REFER to: BRAKE SYSTEM BLEEDING ) and follow the brake bleeding procedure. Clear DTC  s and allow the vehicle to go through a full sleep cycle
  • For opposed piston calipers check the pads and abutments for corrosion. Make sure the pads move freely. For single piston calipers make sure the slide pins and pistons are not seized.
  • Inspect brake pads for signs of excessive heat - replace all brake pads if necessary
  • Inspect brake discs for signs of excessive heat - replace all discs if necessary
