Engine Cooling - V8 S/C 5.0L Petrol (G2154000): Overview
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
The engine cooling system maintains the engine within an optimum temperature range under changing ambient and engine operating conditions. The system is a pressurized coolant expansion tank system with continuous bleeds to separate air from the coolant and prevent the formation of air locks. The engine cooling system also provides:
- Heating for:
- The passenger compartment For additional information, Refer to: HEATING AND VENTILATION - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL/TDV6 3.0L DIESEL/TDV8 4.4L DIESEL/V6 S/C 3.0L PETROL/V8 S/C 5.0L PETROL and FUEL FIRED BOOSTER HEATER
- Cooling for:
- The oil cooler For additional information, refer to: ENGINE - V8 S/C 5.0L Petrol
- The electric throttle For additional information, refer to: INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING
- The Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) cooler For additional information, Refer to: TRANSMISSION COOLING
- The supercharger. For additional information, refer to: SUPERCHARGER COOLING
The primary components of the engine cooling system are the:
- Coolant pump
- Electric thermostat
- Radiator
- Viscous cooling fan
- Electric cooling fan - If equipped
- Oil cooler
- Coolant expansion tank
- Heater manifold
- Thermostatic control valve
- ATF cooler
- Connecting hoses and pipes.
On North American Specification (NAS) market vehicles, an active grille air shutter is optionally installed to reduce aerodynamic drag and engine warm up time.
