PHEV Battery Cooling System Draining, Filling And Bleeding (G2298786): Check

NOTE:

  1. Remove the loadspace right trim panel.

    Refer to: RIGHT LOADSPACE TRIM PANEL

    Remove the PHEV battery coolant expansion tank filler cap.

  3. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING

    Disconnect the 4 coolant hoses

  5. Allow the coolant to drain into a suitable container.
  6. Connect the 4 coolant hoses.
  7. Prepare a sufficient amount of coolant to the specified concentration.
  8. CAUTION: Make sure that both valves on the coolant system vacuum refill kit are in the closed position before commencing the refill procedure.
    NOTE: The coolant system vacuum refill kit needs an air pressure of 6 to 8 bar (87 to 116 psi) to operate correctly.

    1. Connect the hose from the coolant system vacuum refill kit into a container of clean coolant.

      Special Tool(s): HU-919 

    2. Connect a regulated compressed air supply to the coolant system vacuum refill kit.
    3. Install the coolant system vacuum refill kit to the PHEV battery coolant expansion tank and make sure it is held firmly in place.
    4. Open the air supply valve until -0.8 Bar is shown on the gauge.
    5. Close the air supply valve and wait 1 minute to check the vacuum is held.
    6. Open the coolant supply valve and allow the coolant to be drawn into the system.
    7. Close the coolant supply valve when the PHEV battery coolant expansion tank MAX mark is reached or coolant movement has ceased.
    8. Remove the vacuum filler gauge and cooling system vacuum refill adaptor assembly.

    Add coolant to the PHEV battery coolant expansion tank as required, until the MAX level mark is reached.

    1. Using Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, select 'ECU Diagnostics'.
    2. Select 'Battery Energy Control Module [BECM]'.
    3. Select 'ECU Functions'.
    4. Select 'Hybrid Battery Cooling System Bleed Applications'.

      General Equipment: Land Rover diagnostic equipment 

    1. Wait 2 minutes.
    2. Check the coolant level, top up as required.
    3. Install the PHEV battery coolant expansion tank filler cap.
  10. Install the loadspace right trim panel.
