The fuel tank is a saddle tank design and installed under the second row seat floorpan, forward of the rear suspension. The fuel tank is manufactured using 6 layer co-extruded blow molding technology providing both high mechanical strength and complete emission integrity. The fuel filler neck is produced from stainless steel.
The fuel tank provides the following:
- Storage of fuel - The system contains a given quantity of fuel, avoid leakage and limit evaporative emission.
- Filling - The fuel tank must be filled in a secure way, without sparks.
- Provide a method for measuring the level of fuel in the fuel tank.
- Venting - The over-pressure is not allowed, the fuel vapors must be managed.
- Provide a method for delivering the fuel to the engine.
The fuel tank has a storage capacity of 104.3 liters (27.55 gallons).
Roll-Over Valve
The roll-over valve is installed in the fuel tank and connected with the evaporative emission canister. The roll-over valve allows the fuel vapors to escape to the evaporative emission canister, which prevents fuel tank pressurization. The roll-over valve is closed to prevent fuel leakage in the event of a vehicle roll-over.
Fuel Limit Vent Valve
The Fuel Limit Vent Valve (FLVV) is installed in the fuel tank and connected with the breather hose. As the fuel enters the fuel tank, the pressure increases inside the fuel tank. The FLVV vents High Pressure (HP) air to the fuel filler hose in case of creating HP inside the fuel tank.
