Regenerative Braking
During regenerative braking, when the driver operates the brake pedal, the Motor Generator (MG) is operated as a generator. The MG applies a braking torque to the rear wheels. At this stage, the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module disconnects the hydraulic supply from the rear wheel brakes. The Brake Booster Module (BBM) applies the appropriate force to the rack, to provide constant feedback to the driver through the brake pedal.
At low vehicle speeds the MG is not able to apply adequate brake torque, therefore the ABS control module applies hydraulic pressure to the rear wheels. At the same time the BBM increases the force on the rack to compensate the pedal force, applied by the driver.
