Wheel Knuckle (G2020150): Removal
CAUTION:
- To avoid damage to the Constant Velocity joint (CV) or CV boot, do not allow the halfshaft to hang.
- Nuts and bolts must be tightened with vehicle at normal ride height.
- Do not use air tools to remove or install the halfshaft nut.
NOTE:
- If a new knuckle is to be installed, a new wheel bearing will be required.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustration depending on the vehicle specification, but essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Before replacing the Wheel Knuckle, make sure to have followed the diagnosis and testing procedure.

- Using Land Rover approved diagnostic system, depressurize the air spring at the relevant corner.NOTE: Vehicles with air suspension.
- Activate the service mode function of the Electric Park Brake (EPB).

- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

General Equipment: 2 post lift
- Remove the relevant wheel and tire.
Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE
- Apply the foot brake and remove and discard the halfshaft nut.CAUTION: Do not use air or power tools to remove or install the halfshaft nut.
- Remove the rear brake pads form the relevant side only.

- Release the wheel speed sensor from the wheel knuckle.CAUTION: Do not use excessive force to remove the component.
- Release the height sensor link.
- Using a suitable stand, support the lower arm.
General Equipment: Vehicle/axle stands
- Release the shock absorber from the wheel knuckle.
- Discard the nut.
- Release the toe link from the wheel knuckle.
- Discard the nut and bolt.
- Remove the integral link.
- Discard the nuts and bolts.

CAUTION: As the halfshaft is still installed extra care must be taken when removing the lower control arm. Failure to follow this instruction might disassemble or damage the CV or CV boot.
- Release the lower arm from the wheel knuckle. Discard the nut and bolt.
- Discard the nut and bolt.
- Loosen the upper arm to wheel knuckle nut and bolt.CAUTION: As the halfshaft is still installed extra care must be taken when removing the upper control arm. Failure to follow this instruction might disassemble or damage the CV or CV boot.
- Using the special tools, release the halfshaft from the drive flange.CAUTION: Take extra care when releasing the halfshaft. Failure to follow this instruction might result in damage to the CV boot.
Special Tool(s): 205-857
- Remove the special tools.

- Remove the wheel knuckle from the vehicle.
- Discard the upper arm to wheel knuckle nut and bolt.
- Remove the brake disc from the wheel knuckle.
- Remove the brake disc shield from the wheel knuckle.
- Remove the wiring harness bracket from the wheel knuckle.
