ITEM DESCRIPTION
1 Charge air cooler
2 Engine coolant pipe connections

The supercharger increases the pressure of the air supplied to the engine, this increase the power output of the engine. This compression process produces heat which can reduce the performance gains due to reduced density of the intake air and an increase in the cylinder combustion temperature. To counteract this, the charge air cooler is used to reduce the intake air temperature which increases the density of the air allowing more air molecules to be delivered to the combustion chamber.

The charge air coolers are installed in the intake manifolds, and have connections to the supercharger cooling system. The charge air cooler uses engine coolant from the engine cooling system to cool the air before the air enters the engine.
