Brake Pads (G2049160): Removal

WARNING:
  • Brake pads must be renewed in axle sets only. Failure to follow this instruction may result in braking efficiency being impaired.
  • If the brake pad wear warning light has been activated, a new brake pad wear sensor must be installed.
  1. If this component is being renewed because of a customer complaint, make sure to follow the brake system Diagnosis and Testing procedure.

    Refer to: BRAKE SYSTEM

  2. Connect the diagnostic tool and set the electronic park brake (EPB) to the maintenance position.
  3. Activate the service mode function of the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB).
    NOTE: This step is only required if the diagnostic tool is not available.
  4. Release the electronic parking brake.
    NOTE: This step is only required if the vehicle has no battery power.
  5. Raise and support the vehicle.

  6. Remove the rear wheel.

    Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE

  7. Remove the spring.

  8. Tie the brake caliper aside.

    Torque  : 28 Nm 

  9. Inspect the brake pad wear sensor for signs of wear or damage. Install a new sensor if necessary.
  10. Remove the brake pads.
