Brake Fluid Level Sensor
If the hydraulic fluid in the reservoir falls to a predetermined low level, the switch contacts close and provide a ground signal to the Body Control Module/Gateway Module (BCM/GWM) assembly. The BCM/GWM then sends a High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) powertrain signal to the Instrument Cluster (IC) and the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module. On receipt of the signal:
- The IC illuminates the red brake warning indicator, and the message center displays the critical warning indicator (red warning triangle) and the message Brake Fluid Low.
- The ABS disables Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) functions and sends a HS CAN powertrain bus signal to the IC to continuously illuminate the DSC warning indicator.
