The crankshaft is installed with 4 main bearing locations. A thrust bearing located at position 4, limits the end float of the crankshaft. All of the main bearing caps have 4 bolts, this increases the strength and rigidity of the cylinder block.
The main bearings are selective split plain bearings. An oil groove in the top half of each bearing transfers oil into the crankshaft for lubrication of the connecting rod bearings.
