The oil pan is located on the underside of the cylinder block. It is sealed to the cylinder block with sealant and is secured with 16 bolts.
The oil pan covers the windage tray and the oil pump where it collects engine oil returning from the cylinder heads and cylinder block.
A drain plug and seal are located on the right side of the oil pan. The oil level and temperature sensor is located in the bottom of the oil pan and is secured with 3 bolts and a seal.
The oil pan remains full of engine oil and provides the location for the oil pump pick-up pipe and mesh filter.
