Exhaust Balance Shaft Gear Renew (G2928119): Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

CAUTION: The locking pin must stay in position during installation. If the pin is removed or dislodged, discard the gear.

NOTE: The crankshaft position may need to be constantly adjusted when installing the exhaust balance shaft gear.

1. Install the exhaust balance shaft gear.
2. Use the special tool to rotate the crankshaft to allow the gear to be installed.
3. Rotate the gear 180°.
4. Install the exhaust balance shaft gear to the bearing housing.
CAUTION: Install the special tool finger tight only.

Carefully install the balance shaft gear retaining tool finger tight.

Use suitable tool to remove exhaust balance shaft gear the locking pin.

Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

Torque : 10 Nm

- Install the windage tray.
- Install and tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
  Torque
  
  Bolts 1 and 2: 12 Nm
  
  Bolts 3 to 6: 10 Nm
  
  Bolts 7 to 12: 12 Nm

Install a new O-ring seal to the oil pump.

Renew Part: Oil pump O-ring seal Quantity: 1 .

- Install the oil pump.
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts.
  Renew Part: Oil pump bolts Quantity: 4 .
  
  Torque : 25 Nm
- Install the oil pump electrical connector to the cylinder block.
- Install the wiring harness into the 3 clips.
CAUTION: Make sure the oil pump drive sprocket is correctly installed.

- Install the 2 sprockets and the oil pump drive chain.
- Use the special tool to counter the force and install and tighten a new bolt.
  Special Tool(s): 205-053
  
  Renew Part: Oil pump gear bolt Quantity: 1 .
  
  Torque
  
  Stage 1: 60 Nm
  
  Stage 2: 90°
NOTE: If equipped.

Remove the locking pin and release the oil pump chain tensioner.

Use a suitable tool and cleaning solution to clean the mating face.

- Use a suitable tool and cleaning solution to clean the mating face.
- Apply a continuous 3 mm diameter bead of sealant to the area illustrated.

- Install the oil pan.
- Install, but do not fully tighten the 2 shoulder bolts to the positions illustrated.

Install and tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.

Torque

Bolts 1 to 13: 25 Nm

Bolt 14: 35 Nm

Bolts 15 and 16: 25 Nm
Install the exhaust side balance shaft.
