The charge air cooling system comprises:
- Charge air cooler
- Charge air radiator
- Charge air coolant pump.
The charge air cooler is an air-to-water heat exchanger, providing charge air cooling in combination with an electrical charge air coolant pump.
The charge air cooler is used to reduce the intake air temperature which increases the density of the intake air delivered to the combustion chambers.
The charge air cooler has a stand alone cooling system with its own charge air radiator, charge air coolant pump and hoses. The only connection to the main cooling circuit is a hose connection to the radiator upper hose. For additional information, refer to: INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING
