Exhaust System - TDV6 3.0L Diesel (G2271030): Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE: Only do step(s)  1 to  9 if the components were previously removed.
    • Install the 2 mounting rubbers.
    • Install the 2 hanger brackets.
    • Install the rear mass damper.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque  : 22 Nm 

    • Install the front mass damper.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque  : 22 Nm 

    • Use the special tool to install the post SCR  NOx sensor.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1666 

      Torque  : 60 Nm 

    • Install the particulate matter sensor.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1646 

      Torque  : 48 Nm 

    • Install the post DPF  exhaust gas temperature sensor.

      Torque  : 35 Nm 

    • Install the differential pressure sensor pipe.

      Torque  : 35 Nm 

    • Use the special tool to install the pre SCR  NOx sensor

      Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1666 

      Torque  : 60 Nm 

    • Install the DPF  exhaust gas temperature sensor.

      Torque  : 35 Nm 

  10. CAUTION: Make sure that the exhaust system is supported with suitable retaining straps.
    • With assistance install the exhaust system.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 35 Nm 

  11. Install the 5 mounting rubbers.
  12. CAUTION: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

    • Install, finger tight only, the 2 bolts.
  13. CAUTION: Make sure that the gasket is correctly located.

    • Install a new DPF  gasket.

      Renew Part: Right exhaust downpipe to DPF gasket  Quantity: 1  .

    • Install a new DPF  clamp.

      Renew Part: Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) clamp  Quantity: 1  .

    • Install the DPF  and clamp.
    • Tighten the clamp bolt.

      Torque  : 9 Nm

    • Fully tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 25 Nm 

    • Install a new EGR  valve inlet pipe gasket.

      Renew Part: EGR pipe to DPF gasket  Quantity: 1  .

    • Install a new EGR  valve inlet pipe clamp.

      Renew Part: EGR valve inlet tube clamp  Quantity: 1  .

    • Install the EGR  valve inlet pipe and clamp.
    • Tighten the clamp bolt.

      Torque  : 9 Nm 

    • Install and tighten the nut.

      Torque  : 25 Nm 

    • Install a new exhaust cross-over pipe gasket.

      Renew Part: Crossover pipe gasket  Quantity: 1  .

    • Install the exhaust cross-over pipe.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 25 Nm 

    • Tighten the clamp bolt.

      Torque  : 28 Nm 

  17. NOTE: This step is only required for left hand drive vehicles.
    • Connect the steering column lower shaft to the steering gear.
    • Install and tighten a new steering column lower shaft bolt.

      Renew Part: Lower steering column to steering gear bolts  Quantity: 1  .

      Torque  : 30 Nm 

  18. CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.
    • Install a new DEF  injector clamp.

      Renew Part: Diesel exhaust fluid injector clamp kit  Quantity: 1  .

    • Install the DEF  injector.
    • Tighten the DEF  injector clamp bolt.

      Torque  : 5 Nm 

    • Connect the electrical connector.
    • Install the protective sleeve.
    • Connect the DPF  exhaust gas temperature sensor electrical connector.
    • Install the wiring harness to the 5 clips.
    • Connect the pre DPF  exhaust gas temperature sensor electrical connector.
    • Install the wiring harness to the 3 clips.
    • Install the HO2S  electrical connector.
    • Install the wiring harness to the 3 clips.
    • Connect the DPF  differential pressure sensor hose.
    • Install the hose clamp.
    • Connect the DPF  differential pressure sensor hose.
    • Install the hose clamp.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 25 Nm 

    • Install the post DPF  exhaust gas temperature sensor electrical connector.
    • Install the wiring harness to the 3 clips.
    • Install the pre SCR  NOx sensor module.
    • Connect the electrical connector.
    • Install the wiring harness to the 2 clips.
    • Install the cover.
    • Install and tighten the 2 screws.
    • Install the post SCR  NOx sensor module bracket.
    • Install and tighten the 3 nuts.

      Torque  : 7 Nm 

    • Connect the 2 electrical connectors.
    • Install the wiring harness to the 3 clips.
    • Connect the active exhaust actuator electrical connector.
    • Install the wiring harness to the 2 clips.
    • Install the cross member.
    • Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

      Torque  : 25 Nm 

    • Install the right side undershield.
    • Install and tighten the 3 nuts.

      Torque  : 7 Nm 

    • Install and tighten the 6 bolts.

      Torque  : 7 Nm 

    • Install the 9 fasteners.
    • Install the 3 fasteners.
    • Install the wheel arch air deflector.
  32. Install the engine undershield.
