Exhaust Front Section
On vehicles equipped without Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) system the exhaust front section comprises of a catalytic converter and a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). The bank 2 inlet exhaust pipe connects to the catalytic converter. The bank 1 inlet exhaust pipe connects to a half shell that is located between the catalytic converter and the DPF.
On vehicles equipped with SCR system the exhaust front section comprises of a Lean NOx Trap (LNT) and a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). The bank 2 inlet exhaust pipe connects to the LNT. The bank 1 inlet exhaust pipe connects to a half shell that is located between the LNT and the DPF.
Each inlet exhaust pipe is equipped with a flange that connects to the related turbocharger at each cylinder bank. The bank 2 flange connection uses a 3 bolt fixing and the bank 1 flange connection uses a 2 bolt fixing that are screwed into threaded holes in each of the turbochargers. Each flange is sealed using a gasket.
Both inlet exhaust pipes are secured to transmission mounted brackets by independent straps.
The DPF has an additional outlet pipe, which connects to the Low Pressure (LP) Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and is secured by a clamp.
The outlet exhaust pipe of the exhaust front section is secured by a clamp to the exhaust center section.
