The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system comprises an EGR cooler and valve housing bolted to each cylinder head, above the exhaust manifolds. Each EGR cooler and valve housing incorporates an EGR valve and motor, an EGR cooler, and a cooler bypass valve and actuator.
The left EGR valve receives exhaust gasses from the exhaust system after the gasses have passed through the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). The gas is cooled before it is passed to the air filtering system before the left turbocharger.
The right EGR valve receives exhaust gas from the right exhaust manifold. The gas is cooled before passing to the butterfly valve.
The EGR system are controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
