Variable Oil Pump

The variable oil pump is attached to the underside of the windage tray with 3 bolts. A solenoid valve in the variable oil pump switches to reduce the oil gallery control pressure at lower engine speeds. This reduces the power consumption of the variable oil pump and reducing overall fuel consumption. The variable oil pump is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
