Low Pressure Exhaust Gas RECIRCULATION Cooler (G1868229): Removal

WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.

NOTE:

This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING
Drain the cooling system.
Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING AND VACUUM FILLING
Protect the accessory drive belt to prevent contamination from engine coolant.
Remove the low pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve.

Remove the EGR pressure sensor.

Release the wiring harness.

Disconnect the upper coolant pipe.

Disconnect the lower coolant pipe.

Disconnect the EGR cooler intake pipe.
NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

Remove the low pressure EGR cooler. Discard the O-ring seal and gasket.

Remove the low pressure EGR temperature sensor.
