Engine difficult to start
  • Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system fault
  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment, perform routine - Inline diagnostic unit 2 diagnostic test - EGR  valve. Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) and retest
Engine idle erratic
  • EGR  system fault
  • Using the JLR approved diagnostic equipment, perform routine - Inline diagnostic unit 2 diagnostic test - EGR  valve. Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) and retest
Lack of power when accelerating
  • EGR  system fault
  • Using the JLR approved diagnostic equipment, perform routine - Inline diagnostic unit 2 diagnostic test - EGR  valve. Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) and retest
Engine stops/stalls
  • EGR  system fault
  • Positive crankcase ventilation system leaking/blocked
  • Using the JLR approved diagnostic equipment, perform routine - Inline diagnostic unit 2 diagnostic test - EGR  valve. Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) and retest
  • Check the integrity of the positive crankcase ventilation system. Rectify as necessary
Fuel consumption excessively high
  • EGR  system fault
  • Positive crankcase ventilation system leaking/blocked
  • Using the JLR approved diagnostic equipment, perform routine - Inline diagnostic unit 2 diagnostic test - EGR  valve. Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) and retest
  • Check the integrity of the positive crankcase ventilation system. Rectify as necessary
Exhaust emissions excessive
  • EGR  system fault
  • Positive crankcase ventilation system leaking/blocked
  • Using the JLR approved diagnostic equipment, perform routine - Inline diagnostic unit 2 diagnostic test - EGR  valve. Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) and retest
  • Check the integrity of the positive crankcase ventilation system. Rectify as necessary
Engine oil leaks
  • Positive crankcase ventilation system leaking/blocked
  • Check the integrity of the positive crankcase ventilation system. Rectify as necessary
Engine performance restricted and the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is Illuminated
  • EGR  cooler filter blocked
The Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) P2201-31 and P2209-01 are set in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
  • The first NOx sensor only has partial/intermittent connection

  • Make sure the NOx Sensor has the correct installation. Refer to the image above. The image shows the difference between the correct connection and a partial connection of the NOx sensor
    • Make sure the connector is fully pushed into position
  • Make sure the anti-backout on the connector is functional
    • Make sure the anti-backout on the connector is locked into the correct position
  • A visual inspection of the wires leading to the connector
    • Repair/replace any damaged wires
  • Inspect the connector and the connectors pins for damage.
    • Repair/replace the damaged connector or connector pins
