Engine Oil Vacuum Draining And Filling (G2020206): Check

Engine oil vacuum draining and filling is the recommended procedure for engine oil change during a scheduled service. Scheduled service labour times are calculated using this method.

Remove the engine cover.

- Loosen the element cover 4 complete turns to allow engine oil to drain from the filter cover.
- Allow the engine oil to drain from the oil filter element housing for two minutes.
Remove the engine oil filler cap.

Remove the engine oil level indicator.

- Using the oil vacuum pump drain the oil out through the oil extraction tube.
  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1644

Remove the special tool.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1644
Install the engine oil filler cap.

Remove the oil filter element housing.
WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.

- Remove and discard oil filter element from oil filter housing.
- Remove and discard the seal.

- Install a new O-ring seal.
  Renew Part: Oil filter O-ring seal(s) Quantity: 1 .
- Install a new oil filter.
  Renew Part: Oil filter Quantity: 1 .
- Lubricate the oil filter O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
Torque : 25 Nm

Remove the engine oil filler cap.

Fill the engine with the recommended oil to the correct level.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS
Install the engine oil filler cap.

Check the engine oil level.
NOTE: Make sure that the component is correctly installed.

- Start the engine and allow to idle for 2 minutes.
- Check for leaks.
- Stop the engine.
- Check the engine oil level.
- Top up as required.
Install the engine cover.
