Pinpoint Test C: Timing Chain Rattle Noise Diagnosis

- C1: TIMING CHAIN RATTLE
- Let engine sit off for a period of 30 mins with ignition and engine OFF.
- Make sure the hood is left open.
- Make sure the drivers door is left open.
- Switch ignition on.
- Make sure the vehicle is in PARK for automatic transmissions, and NEUTRAL for manual transmission.
Let the engine idle. Is there signs of irregular mechanical rattle noise?
Yes: Confirm the noise is loudest to rear of engine and matches the example animation sound file E260167 below. Continue to replace the timing chains. Refer to: TIMING CHAIN(S), GUIDE(S) AND TENSIONER(S)
