Pinpoint Test G: Exhaust Manifold & Turbocharger Leakage Test - Visual Inspection
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- G1: EXHAUST MANIFOLD & TURBO LEAKAGE TEST - VISUAL INSPECTION
- Check the fitment and integrity of the following components for leaks. Refer to: DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER
- Differential pressure sensor.
- Pre-catalytic converter exhaust gas temperature sensor.
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S).
- DPF .
- Post DPF exhaust gas temperature sensor.
- Pre DPF exhaust gas temperature sensor.
- Check the integrity and joints of the high pressure EGR valve to the exhaust manifold. REFER to: ENGINE EMISSION CONTROL
- Check the fitment and integrity of the Exhaust Gas Pressure sensor for leaks. REFER to: ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLSNOTE:
- Soot stains around the turbo actuator as shown in image 1 are normal. Soot mass around the turbo actuator arm is NOT an indication of a failure.
- Excessive soot staining around the turbo as shown in image 2 is due to the turbo catalyst joint. Soot staining around the turbo joint is NOT a turbocharger failure - Do not replace turbocharger until proven faulty. Rectify the leak and retest.
- Check the fitment and integrity of the turbocharger system joints and exhaust manifold for leaks.
- Check to see if the turbocharger leakage is identified from the V-Band Clamp, if required repair with new one following Refer to: CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO TURBOCHARGER CLAMP
Is there any signs of a exhaust gas leak from the turbocharger?
Yes: Rectify the exhaust leak as required and clear DTC . Once the fault is rectified, start the engine and check for leaks. If the fault persists, continue to GO to PINPOINT TEST H ..
No: GO to PINPOINT TEST H .
