Turbocharger - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel - High Power (G2214527): Overview

The High Specification Ingenium I4 2.0L Diesel engine is only available with a twin turbocharger configuration.

The twin turbocharger configuration comprises of a High Pressure (HP) turbocharger with a Variable Geometry Turbine (VGT) and a Low Pressure (LP) fixed turbocharger.

The HP turbocharger operates through the entire engine speed range. As engine speed increases, the LP turbocharger comes into operation with both of the turbochargers running at the same time. At high engine speed the boost pressure is produced entirely by the LP turbocharger.

The turbochargers are connected by the charge air ducts of the intake air distribution and filtering system. For additional information, refer to: INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING

The turbocharger cooling is achieved using engine oil to maintain the optimum operating temperature and protect the bearings from overheating. In addition, the LP turbocharger compressor is cooled by the engine cooling system.
