Variable Camshaft Timing Solenoid Inspection And Installation

If a customer complains of a lack of power, accompanied by an induction type noise but no fault exists with the air filter assembly, induction system hoses and no DTC  s are present, the issue is likely to be an internal failure of the variable camshaft timing solenoid.

1. Install a new variable camshaft timing solenoid as necessary. Refer to: VARIABLE CAMSHAFT TIMING SOLENOID  (303-14A Electronic Engine Controls - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel, Removal and Installation).
2. Check the date marked on the new variable camshaft timing solenoid, as shown in the image below. If the date shown is 18-08-23 (23rd August 2018) or previous DO NOT  install the solenoid. Only install a new variable camshaft timing solenoid dated after 18-08-23 (23rd August 2018).
