Oil Pressure And Temperature Sensor
The oil pressure and temperature sensor is located in the oil filter and housing assembly located at the front right on the engine. The sensor is located in a threaded port in the housing assembly.
The oil pressure and temperature sensor has a three pin connector:
- One pin supplies a reference voltage from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- The second pin provides an oil pressure output to the PCM.
- The third pin supplies a temperature output to the PCM.
The oil pressure sensor is connected directly to the PCM. The PCM outputs the engine oil pressure state on the FlexRay for use by the Instrument Cluster (IC). In the event of oil pressure falling below the operating threshold of the sensor, the PCM issues a message. The message displays a low oil pressure warning in the IC message center and also illuminates the oil pressure warning indicator in the IC.
The temperature sensor is an Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) type sensor which operates in a range of -30°C (-22°F) to +150°C (302°F) temperature range.
