Electric Thermostat

The electric thermostat is located on the left side of the cylinder block, below the intake manifold.

The electric thermostat operate in two ways. The wax in the electric thermostat is heated up by two sources. These are the:

The electric thermostat allows the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to regulate the engine temperature according to load requirement. The operation of the electric heating element is controlled by the PCM using various parameters from other engine sensors and a stored operating map.

The electric thermostat receives a startup battery voltage from the Engine Junction Box (EJB). The PCM controls the thermostat operation by using a controlled ground.
