Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor

The Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor is located on the accelerator pedal.

Accelerator pedal demand is communicated to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) by two potentiometers located in the APP sensor. The PCM uses the two signals to determine the position, rate of movement and direction of movement of the pedal.

The PCM supplies a reference voltage and a ground for each potentiometer.
