Selective Catalyst Reduction Catalytic Converter (G2019451): Removal

NOTE:

This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING
Remove the rear silencer.
Refer to: REAR SILENCER
Remove the engine undershield.
Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD

- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the floor brace.

Remove the air deflector.

- Disconnect the post Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) NOx sensor electrical connector.
- Release the post SCR NOx sensor module.

- Disconnect the particulate matter sensor electrical connector.
- Release the wiring harness from the 4 clips.
- Release the particulate matter sensor electrical module.

Reposition the protective sleeve.

Disconnect the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) injector electrical connector.

- Release the DEF injector clamp.
- Reposition and secure the DEF injector to one side.
- Remove and discard the DEF injector clamp.
CAUTION: Make sure that the exhaust system is supported with suitable retaining straps.

- Remove the 2 nuts.
- Release the exhaust from the catalytic converter.
- Remove and discard the gasket.

- Release the exhaust mounting.
- Remove the SCR assembly.

Using the special tool, remove the particulate matter sensor.

Remove the exhaust mass damper.
