Catalytic Converter (G2020242): Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

CAUTION:
- If accidentally dropped or knocked install a new Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR)/Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S).
- Make sure the SCR/HO2s sensor wiring harness is not twisted more than 180 degrees and is not in contact with either the exhaust or driveshaft.
- Make sure the anti-seize compound does not contact the SCR/HO2s sensor tip.
NOTE: If the original sensor is to be installed, apply lubricant meeting specification ESE-M12A4-A to the thread of the sensor.

Using the special tool, install the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S).

Special Tool(s): 310-121

Torque : 48 Nm
CAUTION: The catalytic converter to turbocharger gasket must be installed to the orientation shown in the illustration.

Install a new catalytic converter to turbocharger gasket.

Renew Part: Catalytic converter to turbocharger gasket Quantity: 1 .
Install the catalytic converter.
CAUTION:
- Do not use power tools to remove or install the clamp.
- Only tighten the nut finger tight at this stage.

Install a new catalytic converter to turbocharger clamp but do not fully tighten at this stage.

Renew Part: Catalytic converter to turbocharger clamp Quantity: 1 .
CAUTION: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

Install the 2 catalytic converter lower bracket bolts but do not tighten at this stage.
CAUTION: Only tighten the nuts finger tight at this stage.

Install the 2 catalytic converter upper bracket nuts but do not tighten at this stage.

Tighten the catalytic converter to the turbocharger clamp.

Torque : 11 Nm

Tighten the 2 catalytic converter upper bracket nuts.

Torque : 25 Nm

Tighten the 2 catalytic converter lower bracket bolts.

Torque : 25 Nm

- Connect the electrical connector.
- Secure the wiring harness.

- Install a new gasket.
  Renew Part: Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) to exhaust gasket Quantity: 1 .
- Install and tighten the 2 nuts.
  Torque : 40 Nm
Install the exhaust system.

Install the engine cover.
