Diesel Exhaust Fluid Quality (Part 2)

SITUATION CAUSE ACTION
  • A customer may express a concern that the MIL  is illuminated and/or the 'Incorrect DEF  Quality' message is displayed on the Instrument Cluster (IC)
  • A technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes (Diagnostic Trouble Code(s)) P2BA9 and/or P20EE stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
  • Incorrect DEF  quality
  • Incorrect fluid type (coolant, screenwash, diesel, etc)
  • Induction air leaks
  • Exhaust gas leaks
  • SCR  deposits or contamination
  • NOx sensor issues
  • PCM software
  • Should a customer express this concern, follow the pinpoint test below
