Gateway Module

The Gateway Module (GWM) is mounted on a bracket, which is attached to the lower 'A' pillar on the passenger side of the vehicle.

The GWM gateways all the signals around the vehicle on all networks. The GWM hosts Intelligent Power Management System (IPMS) and Stop/Start functionality. The IPMS found in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and GWM for maintaining startup battery power and generator output by inhibiting unnecessary loads.

The GWM contains software to control the following functions:

Determines the condition of the startup battery.

Controls the output from the generator using load management software.

Controls the charge warning indicator - system status on the Instrument Cluster (IC).

Controls the stop/start system using power management to inhibit unnecessary electrical loads.
