Brake Pedal Switch

The brake pedal switch is mounted on the bracket for the brake pedal. The brake pedal switch is connected to the vehicle harness using a four-pin multiplug.

When the brake pedal is pressed, the switch contacts close. This sends a hardwired signal feed to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). A brake pedal switch status message is then sent from the PCM to the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module. The PCM uses the High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) powertrain systems bus for the communication. The ABS control module can then control braking force accordingly in conjunction with the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU).
