General Procedures: Draining

WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.
Observe due care when draining, as the fluid can be very hot.

CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.
Vehicle must be horizontal during this operation.

NOTE: Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.

Refer to: AIR CLEANER
NOTE: Discard the sealing plug.
Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD
CAUTION: The ambient temperature should not be below 20 degrees celsius.

NOTE: Drain the fluid into a suitable container.
Discard the sealing plug.

Allow the fluid to drain until the flow stops.
CAUTION: Install a new sealing plug.

Renew Part: Transfer case drain plug Quantity: 1 .

Torque Specification: 35 Nm
Lower the Vehicle.
CAUTION: Install a new sealing plug.
Use transmission fluid meeting Landrover specification.

Fill the transmission with 3.5 liters of oil.

Renew Part: Transfer case fill plug Quantity: 1 .

Torque Specification: 35 Nm
Carry out transmission fluid level check.
