Removal And Installation: Removal

WARNING: If the brake pad wear warning light has been activated, a new brake pad wear sensor must be installed.

NOTE:

Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
Some components shown removed for clarity.

Connect the diagnostic tool and set the electronic park brake (EPB) to the maintenance position.
General Equipment: Land Rover diagnostic equipment
NOTE: This step is only required if the diagnostic tool is not available.

Refer to: ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE SERVICE MODE ACTIVATION AND DEACTIVATION .
NOTE: This step is only required if the vehicle has no battery power.

Refer to: ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE RELEASE WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS NO ELECTRICAL POWER .
WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove the wheel and tire.

NOTE:
- The brake pad wear indicator sensor is easily damaged. Do not use a lever to remove the sensor. Use fingers only.
- Right side only.
Remove and Inspect the brake pad wear sensor for signs of wear or damage. Install a new sensor if necessary.

WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.
CAUTION:
- - Before disconnecting or removing the components, make sure the area around the joint faces and connections are clean.
  - Using a suitable hose clamp, clamp the brake hose prior to removal.
- Inspect the brake hose sealing washers for signs of damage, if damage is present discard the sealing washers.
Remove the brake hose.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the brake caliper.
CAUTION: Discard the seal.

NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
