Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS

  2. WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.

  3. Remove the exhaust manifold.

    Refer to: LEFT EXHAUST MANIFOLD 

  4. Remove the camshaft.

    Refer to: LEFT CAMSHAFT

  8. NOTE: Clamp the hose to minimize coolant loss.

  9. CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.

    Inspect the seals and replace if damaged or worn.

  12. CAUTION: If a new cylinder head is to be installed then new tappets must be installed.

  13. CAUTION: Discard the cylinder head bolts.

    Special Tool(s): 303-1492 

  14. CAUTION: Discard the gasket.

    Remove the cylinder head.
