Symptom Chart

SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION
Speed control inhibited or disabled
  • Power or ground supply to adaptive speed control module
  • Steering wheel speed control switch/circuits
  • Throttle sensors
  • Brake switch
  • ABS fault
  • Speed control sensor obstructed
  • Check for DTCs that could be caused by power or ground failure to the module and refer to DTC index
  • Check for sticking, jammed and broken speed control switches. Refer to appropriate system wiring diagram and check speed control switch circuits for short circuit, open circuit, high resistance
  • Check for engine throttle position sensor DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index. For throttle position sensor tests

  • Check for correct installation and adjustment of brake switch. Refer to appropriate system wiring diagram and check brake switch circuits for short circuit, open circuit, high resistance
  • Check ABS system for related DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index
  • Make sure there is no snow, ice or other obstruction on the fascia in front of the speed control radar. Adaptive cruise control will not engage until the radar has detected valid target(s)
Unable to regulate/adjust vehicle speed
  • Steering wheel switch malfunction
  • Check for sticking, jammed and broken speed control switches. Refer to appropriate system wiring diagram and check speed control switch circuits for short circuit, open circuit, high resistance
Unable to cancel speed control from steering wheel
  • Steering wheel switch malfunction
  • Check for sticking, jammed and broken speed control switches. Refer to appropriate system wiring diagram and check speed control switch circuits for short circuit, open circuit, high resistance
Unable to cancel speed control from brake pedal
  • Brake switch malfunction
  • Check for correct installation and adjustment of brake switch. Refer to appropriate system wiring diagram and check brake switch circuits for short, open circuit, high resistance
