The clockspring (CLKSPG) is connected to the IC on a LIN bus connection. The LIN bus passes driver selections made on the steering wheel mounted switches to the IC for processing and transmission to other control modules.

The IC receives a permanent fused supply from the Engine Junction Box (EJB).

The Instrument Cluster (IC) is connected to other vehicle systems and control modules via the:

• Medium Speed (MS) Controller Area Network (CAN) bus,
• High Speed (HS) CAN bus and
• Local Interconnect Network (LIN) bus connections

However, some vehicle sensors are hardwired directly to the IC.

The Electric Steering Column Lock (ESCL) control module is connected to a hardwired connection to the IC. Security information from other control modules is passed via the network buses and when the conditions are correct the IC instructs the ESCL control module to unlock the steering column.
