Inspection And Verification
WARNING:
A risk assessment must be performed before any work is undertaken.
CAUTION:
Diagnosis by substitution from a donor vehicle is NOT
acceptable. Substitution of control modules does not guarantee confirmation of a fault and may also cause additional faults in the vehicle being checked and/or the donor vehicle
- Verify the customer concern
- Confirm which, if any, warning indicators and/or messages were displayed on the instrument cluster. For a list of messages: Refer to: INFORMATION AND MESSAGE CENTER - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .
- Visually inspect for obvious electrical faults
- With the ignition on, check the operation of the audio output from the instrument cluster integrated speakers by operating the turn signal indicators (left and right) and verifying that audible feedback is present

- If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step
Use the approved diagnostic system or a scan tool to retrieve any DTCs before moving onto the DTC index
- Make sure that all DTCs are cleared following rectification
