When the driver depresses the brake pedal then a normally closed circuit which is connected to ground. The switch contacts are connected directly to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the PCM also receives a brake pressure signal on the FlexRay systems bus from the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module.
