Depending on vehicle specification, an extended air-intake hose and activated charcoal canister may be fitted to the Fuel Fired Booster Heater (FFBH).

The canister functions as both an acoustic silencer and, under certain operational and environmental conditions, captures and recycles the evaporative emissions exhausted by the FFBH.

The canister is a serviceable item and can be replaced if blocked or damaged. A Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be stored in the Body Control Module/Gateway Module (BCM/GWM) if a restriction is present. This can then be verified by removing the canister and performing an FFBH activation test.
