Removal And Installation: Removal

NOTE:

  1. WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.

  2. Refer to: Transfer Case Draining and Filling 
  3. CAUTION:
    • Mark the position of the driveshaft flange in relation to the drive pinion flange.
    • To avoid damage to the joint or gaiter, do not allow the driveshaft to hang.
    • Discard the bolts.

  4. WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.

    Using a slide hammer, remove the output flange.

  5. G11314268

    Remove and discard the circlip.

  6. WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.

    Carefully remove and discard the oil seal.

  7. G11314270

    Clean the seal register and thoroughly inspect for damage.
