Transfer Case: Removal: Removal

NOTE:
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect

  2. WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.

  3. Refer to: Transfer Case Draining and Filling 
  4. Refer to: Front Driveshaft - AWD

  11. CAUTION: Do not use excessive force to remove the component.

  12. NOTE: Note the orientation of the transfer case bolts prior to removal.

    Discard the O-ring seal.

  15. CAUTION: Inspect the seal and replace if necessary.
