Rear End Accessory Drive (Read) Idler Shaft Assembly: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Refer to Specifications .
    2. WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Refer to Rear End Accessory Drive (READ) .
    4. CAUTION: Make sure that the locking pin is removed with the READ idler shaft assembly. Failure to do so may result in damage to the vehicle.
    • Install a suitable screw into the locking pin.
    • Install with the special tool.

      Rear End Accessory Drive (READ) Idler Shaft Assembly Extractor (303-1488)

    • Tighten the nut to remove the READ idler shaft assembly and the locking pin.

    CAUTION: Inspect the locking pin for damage. If the locking pin is broken in the engine block, the engine block must be replaced. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.
