SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION
The electric park brake will not engage or release (with no park brake warning message)
  • Both electric park brake control module fuse(s) failure
  • Electric park brake actuator incorrectly installed to the vehicle
  • Rear brake lining wear
  • Service brake incorrectly adjusted following lining change
  • Brake caliper malfunction
  • Electric park brake actuator internal fault
  • Check fuse(s)
  • Check both electric park brake actuators are correctly installed to the vehicle. Rectify as required
  • Inspect the rear brake linings for wear
  • Re-calibrate the electric park brake, refer to the calibration procedure
  • Check the rear service brake for correct installation and operation
  • Check for related electric park brake control module actuator DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index
The electric park brake will not engage or release (with park brake warning message)
  • Electric park brake actuator incorrectly installed to the vehicle
  • Rear brake lining wear
  • Brake caliper malfunction
  • Electric park brake actuator internal fault
  • Check both electric park brake actuators are correctly installed to the vehicle. Rectify as required
  • Inspect the rear brake linings for wear
  • Check the rear service brake for correct installation and operation
  • Check for related electric park brake control module actuator DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index
No communication with the electric park brake control module
  • Fuse(s)
  • Module off bus
  • CAN network error
  • Electric park brake control module internal fault
  • Check fuse(s)
  • Ensure battery is fully charged and in serviceable condition. Check battery voltage at electric park brake control module
  • Check CAN bus using manufacturer approved diagnostic system
  • Check for related electric park brake control module actuator DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index
'Park brake Fault' displayed on message center with associated warning lamps
  • Electric park brake control module internal fault
  • Check for related electric park brake control module actuator DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index
Brakes drag
  • Electric park brake actuator incorrectly installed to the vehicle
  • Rear brake lining wear
  • Brake caliper malfunction
  • Electric park brake actuator internal fault
  • Check both electric park brake actuators are correctly installed to the vehicle. Rectify as required
  • Inspect the rear brake linings for wear
  • Check the rear service brake for correct installation and operation
  • Check for related electric park brake control module actuator DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index
