Removal & Installation: Removal
- Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
- Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.
- Remove the knee airbag (KAB) module.
(Refer to Restraint - "KNEE AIRBAG (KAB) MODULE ")
- Remove the multifunction switch assembly.
(Refer to Body Electrical System - "MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH ")
- Separate the wiring clip (A).
- Separate the universal joint assembly (A) from the steering gear box after removing the bolt.
Tightening torque:
32.4 - 37.3 N.m (3.3 - 3.8 kgf.m, 23.9 - 27.5 lb.ft)
NOTE:- Always use a new bolt.
- Lock the steering wheel in the straight ahead position to prevent the damage of the clock spring inner cable.
- Assemble so that the universal joint hole is inserted matching the cut surface of the pinion shaft.
- Disconnect the MDPS connectors (A).
- Remove the steering column mounting bolt (A).
Tightening torque:
53.9 - 58.8 N.m (5.5 - 6.0 kgf.m, 39.8 - 43.4 lb.ft)
- Remove the steering column & shaft (B) after removing the steering column upper mounting nuts (A).
Tightening torque:
24.5 - 29.4 N.m (2.5 - 3.0 kgf.m, 18.1 - 21.7 lb.ft)
