- Engine coolant temperature is between 74°C (165.2°F) and 142°C (287.6°F)
- Engine RPM is between 1500 RPM and 4000 RPM
- Mass air flow is between 0.45g/revolutions and 1.8g/revolutions
- Pressure quotient (MAP/BARO) is less than 2
- Heat stored in intake manifold is less than 100
- Vehicle speed is higher than 70 km/h (43.5 mph) and lower than 130 km/h (81 mph)

| Cold |
- Battery voltage is between 11V and 16V
- Engine stop time is longer than 480m
- ECT decrease in 15s after engine start is less than 2°C (35.6°F)

| Threshold Value |
- Diagnosis when the ambient air temperature value is higher or lower than model temperature
- Hot condition: Difference between ambient air temperature sensor and model value is larger than 30°C (86°F)
- Cold condition: Difference between ambient air temperature sensor and intake temperature model value is larger than 20°C (68°F)
