LH Cylinder Head
- Remove the air duct.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "AIR CLEANER ")
- Remove the battery.
(Refer to Body Electrical System - "BATTERY ")
- Remove the engine cover.
(Refer to Engine And Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE COVER ")
- Remove the air cleaner assembly.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "AIR CLEANER ")
- Remove the engine room under cover.
(Refer to Engine And Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
- Drain the engine coolant.
(Refer to Cooling System - "COOLANT ")
- Disconnect the radiator upper hose (A) and lower hose (B) after releasing the clamps.
- Remove the surge tank.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "SURGE TANK ")
- Remove the intake manifold.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "INTAKE MANIFOLD ")
- Remove the LH exhaust manifold.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "EXHAUST MANIFOLD ")
- Remove the alternator.
(Refer to Engine Electrical System - "ALTERNATOR ")
- Remove the LH cylinder head cover.
(Refer to Cylinder Head Assembly - "CYLINDER HEAD COVER ")
- Remove the timing chain.
(Refer to Timing System - "TIMING CHAIN ")
- Remove the water temperature control assembly.
(Refer to Cooling System - "WATER TEMPERATURE CONTROL ASSEMBLY ")
- Remove the LH camshaft.
(Refer to Cylinder Head Assembly - "CVVT & CAMSHAFT ")
- Remove the delivery pipe.
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "DELIVERY PIPE ")
- Remove the LH cylinder head.
- Uniformly loosen and remove the cylinder head bolts, in several passes, in the sequence shown.
NOTE: Removing bolts in an incorrect order may result in head warpage or crack.
- Lift the LH cylinder head (A) from the dowels on the cylinder block and place the cylinder head on wooden blocks of a bench.NOTE: Be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of the cylinder head and cylinder block.
- Remove the LH cylinder head gasket.
- Uniformly loosen and remove the cylinder head bolts, in several passes, in the sequence shown.
