Component Inspection

NOTE: ■ PIN code is programmed in SMK and ECM

If the SMK is not registered with PIN, key teaching process is not proceeded.
Registering PIN is available after SMK is neutralized.
Neutralization of ECM is available with KDS. (Registering PIN code)
If the virgin ECM is installed on vehicle, the ECM is automatically programmed PIN code by SMK.
Registering PIN code is only possible for virgin or neutralized status.

■ Smart Key ECM Learning
* All learning procedure is able to do with a KDS when the ignition is off.

Correct PIN must be recorded and kept in hand prior to perform the "SMART KEY CODE SAVING".
In case of SMK module is replaced, the "Smart Key Code Saving" must be performed.
In case wrong PIN signal is inputted 3 times, "Neutralization Mode" or teaching is prohibited for 1 hour.
In case battery is discharged during process of "Neutralization Mode" or teaching, timer will restart and wait for 1 hour to re-do.

Good

Fault might be intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness, or it has been repaired and control module memory is not cleared yet. Thoroughly check terminal of battery, all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
Repair or replace as necessary and Go to "VERIFICATION OF REPAIR " procedure.

No Good

Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.
If problem still occurs, replace the SMK module and then Go to "VERIFICATION OF REPAIR " procedure.
