Removal and Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal.
  2. Remove the water pump belt.

    (Refer to Drive Belt System - "DRIVE BELT ")

  3. Remove the engine room under cover.

    (Refer to Engine And Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  4. Drain the engine coolant.

    (Refer to Cooling System - "COOLANT ")

  5. Disconnect the water pump connector (A).

  6. Remove the water pump pulley (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    7.8 - 9.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb.ft)

  7. Remove the water pump (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  8. Remove the water pump housing (A) with the gasket.

    Tightening torque: 

    18.6 - 23.5 N.m (1.9 - 2.4 kgf.m, 13.7 - 17.4 lb.ft)

  9. Install in the reverse order of removal.
    NOTE:
    • Always use the new gasket.
    • Always use the new water inlet pipe O-ring.
    • When installing the water pump, apply anti-freeze or soapy water to O-ring.
  10. Fill with engine coolant.

    (Refer to Cooling System - "COOLANT ")

    NOTE: The coolant must be injected according to the integrated thermal management module (ITM) coolant filling method.
  11. Start engine and check for leaks.
  12. Recheck engine coolant level.
