Engine Overheat Troubleshooting
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
| Inspection | Remedy | |
|---|---|---|
| Visual inspection | Inspect for shortage of coolant in reservoir tank. | Reinspect after replenishing coolant. |
| Check the coolant contamination after removing the reservoir tank cap. | Reinspect after replacing coolant. | |
|
CAUTION:
Pay attention to the scalding when removing the reservoir cap from the vehicle with overheated engine.
|
||
| Check the coolant hoses (Radiator hose, heater hose, oil cooler hose, etc.) for leakage and installation state. | Recheck after reinstalling the hoses and clamps. | |
| Check the leakage from the each component of ITM. | Replace the integrated thermal management module (ITM) gasket or integrated thermal management module (ITM) as necessary. | |
| Check the leakage from the each connection of water inlet pipe. | Recheck the leakage from the water inlet pipe, O-ring and gasket seating areas. | |
| Check the drive belt (For water pump normal operation) | Adjust the drive belt tension or replace the drive belt. | |
| Check the leakage from the water pump gasket. | Recheck the leakage after replacing the gasket. | |
| Recheck the leakage after tightening the bolts to the specified torque. | ||
| Check the coolant temperature sensor, cooling fan connector connection and connector pin state. | Reconnect the connector in the event of poor connection | |
| Replace the corresponding part when connector pin is damaged. | ||
Check the cooling fan for operation.
|
Check the installation state of ground cable. | |
| Information Cooling fan may not work when ambient temperature is low. |
||
| Diagnosis equipment | Check the DTC using KDS. | Additionally analyze the coolant temperature sensor, wirings, connectors, etc. |
| Causal part inspection | Check the water pump impeller. | Replace the water pump. |
